The Sepoy Mutiny By the year 1857 the British had established put on do political control of India. As Western direction was introduced and missionaries gnaw at Hindu society resentment among Indian people grew and it was linked by unease among the old disposal class when the British decided to formally abolish the Mughal Empire. The rebellion of the Sepoy (native troops in the British army) began on May 10, 1857, when Indian soldiers who had been placed in irons for refusing to accept new cartridges were carry through by their comrades.
The cover cartridges had to be bitten off before physical ex ertion, and the manufacturers had supplied a fat of shout and pork - repulsive to both Hindus and Moslems. For Hindus the scare is sacred, whilst Muslims believe that the predate is a filthy beast.
