The unknown quantity and insurrection Acts and the Patriot Act have a lot in common. One of these justnesss passed under the Alien and Sedition Acts forms the basis of the Patriot Act. The Alien and Sedition Acts were procedureually 4 laws that were passed together because of a perceived threat to American safety caused by the French Revolutionary war. The Alien Friends act which imparted the president to deport anyone who he thought posed a threat. The Alien Enemies Act (this is the one that forms the basis of the Patriot Act) which allow the President to capture and deport all immigrants whose country was at war with us and the final law under the Alien Sedition Acts was the Sedition Act which severely restricted a citizens right to free speech. A person could be confined if he said anything bad against the government or its leaders.



This is in reality crazy because one of our freedoms is the freedom of speech. We should be sufficient to tell whatever it is that we compliments. Even back then they shouldnt be able to put somebody into jail for saying a contradict comment about the government or even a leader. They should have had the right to say what they wanted to and to express the way that they felt about it.
The Patriot Act was passed for much the corresponding reason as the Alien and Sedition Acts. It was made law in our response to the fear of terrorism caused by the events of 9/11.
