Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on November 13th, 1469. He was born in Talwandi, now Nankana Sahib, which is near Lahore in present-day Pakistan. Back than Pakistan was a part of India. He was the founder of the Sikh religion. He taught his being 3 major beliefs, to chant Gods name, to realise an honest living, and to shargon and consume together. He preached that rituals are meaningless and the only true way to keep God is by praising him. He showed that he was a leader by teaching Hindus not to practice Sati, which is leave burning. He also taught his followers to do selfless service. This service should not be done for personal gain, but it should be done out of the kindness from ones heart. He also helped stupefy an end to the caste system. At that time there was a caste system in India. He preached that since all people are equal there shouldnt be any system that separates the touchable and untouchables.



He helped to put an end to it by establishing the soup kitchen. In every Gurdwara, locate of worship for Sikhs, he said that there should be a soup kitchen in which members of society make and serve everybody nutrient. Everybody ate on the floor, ate the same food and ate the food together. This helped rid of the caste system in India.
Guru Nanak showed that he was a leader by teaching his followers many good values. He taught his followers to be humble and to not follow the caste system. He taught his followers to help others by doing selfless service. He also taught his followers that all people are created equal regardless of there gender.
