The movie was interesting fitting for the fact that it’s about a font. The history of sans serif is reviewed along with the ideas and concepts of each era. I really liked how they showed the phone line in design from pre-Helvetica to after Helvetica was introduced. Once Helvetica was introduced, designs took a more organized, structured, and, at times, a bolder look. I’m a fan of the minimal looks and structured designs that were shown in the movie.
Visually, the movie was colossal. in that location were plenty of groovy cracks of real world applications of Helvetica. not only were there great shots of the font, scarce the way the designers were shot was great as well. There were some shots where spunk was used, but for the majority of the designer scenes, there was no additional lighting used. These particular shots looked great, they almost had a more organic flavour to them because it was natural lighting that was being used.

I liked how a tripod was used for when the designers were talking about what they do and how Helvetica has effected them. What I liked even more was that the hand-held approach was taken when masking the designers at work to give a more knowing feel as if you were there.
Overall, I’d have to regularise that Helvetica was a great movie. It was interesting to learn about things you would never think about when it comes to fonts. Not only was the mental object of the movie great, but the presentation was great as well.
