Introduction
Lyme malady, also known as Lyme borreliosis, is a tick-born bacterial distemper affecting both humans and animals. A tick-borne disease is caused by bacteria, viruses and different types of germs transmitted to a person from the bite of an infected tick. There are several tick-borne infections including Tularemia caused by the bacteria Francisella tularensis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever caused by Rickettsia rickettsi. The bacterium causing Lyme disease is Borrelia burgdorferi; a corkscrew influence bacteria, a member of the spirochete family.
Lyme disease is a multisystem disease with prominent neurological involvement. It has been dubbed The New Great Imitator, a relief for that old Great Imitator syph; because like syphilis its archeozoic symptoms are similar to those of many other diseases (Pachner, 1998).
Lyme disease as we know it today was first set forth in European medical literature in the early 1900s. However, Lyme disease in the United States was not officially recognized until 1975 from an outbreak near Lyme, Connecticut, hence the name Lyme disease. Previous to this realization it was classified as Rheumatoid arthritis, and it was not until 1983 that Ixodes scapularis, a bad shell tick, was identified as the vector or carrier of Lyme disease (Pachner, 1998).

In the United States, the highest incidence occurs in the Northeast, North Central States, and double-u Coast(Stanek, Klein, Bittner, & Glogar, 1990).
Ticks ordinarily have a two-year life story cycle consisting of three stages, in which they feed...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
