Lesson 2 Essay Struggles in the US As the United States was trying to find from World War I, some highly volatile situations were occurring. Wilsons attempt at gaining world peace, Americans expiry on witch hunts for supposed Communists, and the increasing consumption of alcoholic drink and the affects it had on the family. As if being in a major worldwide conflict wasnt enough, the public had their own afflictions and opinions close to how things in the country should be handled. Wilson vs. other Nations vs. the Senate In Wilsons never ending struggle for world peace, he came up with a fourteen point plan on how it should be accomplished. In theory, if all in all nations were amiable, it should have worked for the greater good for all. As we know, every country wants to have the most power and control. America, after this war, was considered the most powerful nation. The Paris Peace Conference was held for the dialogue with the powers-that-be of the nations involved with the war, in an attempt to bring peace amidst those countries. Wilsons fourteen points were discussed, picked apart and renegotiated resulting in the Versailles Treaty. Wilson spent many days with the leaders of those nations attempting to come to an agreement that would make everyone sharp.

He found opposition with different countries regarding every point exclusively was able to, after revamping those points, make the other nations work unitedly to bring, at least, cohesiveness. The main problem came when he returned to the United States and showed the Senate the results of his labors. The members of the Senate had to a greater extent oppositions than the other nations. He made several trips back and frontwards from the countries to the US and back in an attempt to make all parties happy. He was never able to make all happy and the only point of his fourteen that even made a difference was the last and final point that helped create the compact of Nations.
