Lester Burnham is the main character of the mental picture he is married to Carolyn, with whom he has one daughter, Jane.He works for an advertise agency, lives in the suburbs.From the beginning we see him wake up and place his relatively boring life, the high point of his day is masturbating in the shower which says a lot some how monotony and terrestrial got a hold of his life.So at the germinates beginning we get introduced with a man that is deeply and fundamentally unsatisfied with his life.He has marriage problems that he avoides and they fight over stupid things like the couch scene.Lester may have been in denial in the beginning about his life being common, but he will manage that and attempt to change.Hes lonely and a sense of feeling exploded surfaces (Lester in the shower, Lester alone in the car, Lester alone in the garage).He is connected to control in a different way by experimenting with different ways of regaining control, and therefore happiness of his life. He works out, and listens to old rock music while step on it in his new sports car that he always wanted.
His regression with Angela Hayes can be seen as a heart and soul aged crises, rase though In the ending, after Angela and Lester do not make love is the first time in the film when we see a serviceman side to Angela, and a realistic emotional honest connection. Lester was trying to connect emotionally again. By the end of the movie he rediscovers an appreciation for the beauty of human existence.The film begins with Lester needing to change his life,but at the end of the movie even though it is in the last seconds of his life, appreciates his life and feels alive.
