In this thesis I endeavor to analysis my view on Emily Dickinsons Hope Is the Thing with Feathers through its figures of speech, such as metaphor, imagery, head rhyme and analogy to appreciate this poem. In the first part I would like to give a brief introduction of the source Emily Dickenson who is an American female writer. Many of her poems, like Hope, file Emilys inner struggle and suffering. Emily uses analogy or parallel of latitude images to convey her thoughts. Thus in the following of my essay, I impart show my understanding on what Emilys inner emotions expressing in her poem from several angles.

She adored her strict father, and didnt relate to her cold and distant mother.

Hope is everywhere and is always there for you even though you do not realize what it is or feel its presence. It is only like the tune without the words. You may not realize incisively what the song is but you

The words feathers and exact show the frail physical side to the bird and hope. hardly hope, like the bird, cannot be defeated. It can survive any clime or extremity, no matter how severe.
