Assessments in schools are nonhing new and definitely are not a careless matter. Informal assessments are wedded in the classroom by teachers to determine students strengths and weaknesses in a specialized skill or by formal assessments given up by the school, district, or state that must demonstrate comme il faut yearly progress, better cognise as AYP. Students with disabilities are not excluded; they are required by federal law to enrol in the state wide tests and standards of learning with the eligibility of accommodations during testing.

Description of School Based/County Wide Assessment Practices

I currently decease for a school that gives formal and informal assessments based on the student and the class teacher. All students must participate in the state-wide Standards of Learning (SOL).



For the students who are receiving special education services, based on a team decision, some are assessed by winning the Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA) or the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP) which allow the students to receive the appropriate accommodations necessary for the specific needs of the student to participate in the state-wide standards of learning tests. Specifically, for the remnant two years at my school there has been a huge push from the administration for all teachers to use the ABC Public Schools Electronic Curriculum Assessment Resource Tool, known as eCart.
